Security & Reinforcement

Moloney Windows prides itself on only using Ireland’s leading suppliers of hardware to the window and door manufacturing industry. These companies include Universal Products Ltd, Mila Ltd and D.G.S. Ltd who all supply the most comprehensive range of highly innovative hardware products available on the market and are renowned for their performance, quality and durability. All windows and doors that are manufactured and supplied by Moloney Windows are fitted with the highest locking systems as standard to ensure the highest level of security for your home. All front and back door locks have multiple hook points as well as a central handle lock. Our range of door accessories also include a high security handle which protects the profile cylinder from attack.

Due to the relatively low modulus of elasticity of uPVC, it is a normal requirement to reinforce areas where known stresses can occur. These stresses can be as a result of the effects from wind loading, linear thermal expansion and stresses caused by hardware.

In the case of the products used by Moloney Windows, galvanized steel or WER bar is used where necessary. This has been found to give the best performance in terms of rigidity and corrosion resistance and it is also still the most cost effective means of reinforcing. White profiles only require to be reinforced in areas prescribed in the Kommerling Technical Manual, whereas all non-white profiles should be fully reinforced. Our reinforcing sections have been designed specifically to suit the uPVC profiles and, in many instances, a single reinforcing section can be used with more than one profile.

During the design process, currently available hardware is taken into account and, where possible, the reinforcing sections have been designed to offer additional support to the hardware.

Energy certification

The best way to harness free energy from the sun is to use the heat which is transmitted through the glass to help heat your home. There is legislation is in place to encourage this initiative. Window Energy Ratings, a concept developed in the U.S.A. was recognised by Moloney Windows and due to our policy of continuous improvement, we offer Insulated Glass Units which address the needs for compliance with Window Energy Ratings, (WER) and we can advise on the best product to use in order to achieve a better performing window. The use of Argon Gas, warm edge technology and low iron glass to enhance the free solar heat gain can provide many options when combined with high performing window systems.

Various energy ratings can be achieved, dependent upon the type of sealed units being used and the level of reinforcement. All of Moloney Windows’ new energy efficient windows are fully certified and comply with the standards set down by the National Standards Authority of Ireland’s (N.S.A.I.) new Window Energy Performance (WEP) initiative.

As one of only two companies in the South East of Ireland, we are proud to say that our windows are NSAI certified.

Glass Technology

Choosing the right insulated glass units for new windows can be the difference in lowering energy bills, improving thermal efficiency and lowering the BER rating of the property.

All our glass is sourced from Ireland’s largest glass supplier, Carey Glass Ltd. located in Co. Tipperary. Moloney Windows was one of the first companies in Ireland to lead the way by using high performance A-Rated “Diamante Elite” glass with a warm edge spacer bar in all of our products. This is the latest innovation in insulated glass, offering superb Triple Glazed U–value of 0.7 and a Double Glazed U-value of 1.0 which is up to 136% better than standard double glazing.

Performance glass from Carey Glass offers high performance double and triple glazed units for maximum insulation, lower energy costs and the greatest comfort. When choosing new windows, Moloney Windows provides the highest performance insulated glazing available manufactured to the highest European standards.

Vista Therm Insulated Glass Units are synonymous with the window industry in Ireland as the major brand supplied to the market for many years. The introduction of low emissivity glass redefined the market with performance based products making demands on the sophistication and facilities of the glass industry. It is common sense to use glass products that can save energy and ease the costs of energy on the homeowner while also helping the environment.

With the Elite brand recognised as the leader in the field, Moloney Windows set the pace and our standards are second to none.

Thermal information

Low-emissivity glass (or low-e glass as it is commonly referred to) is a type of energy-efficient glass designed to prevent heat escaping through your windows to the cold outdoors. This type of glass has an invisible coating which dramatically reduces heat transfer and reflects interior heat back into your room. Our uPVC windows and doors, used in conjunction with the correct Low ‘E’ energy sealed units, ensure compliance with the thermal insulation requirements of Building Regulations.

The lower the W/(m2K) value, the better the insulation. When considering the insulation properties of a window, the frame materials must be assessed together with the type of sealed unit. There are many varieties of glass available, with properties designed to improve the comfort of the occupants and reduce the energy requirements and consequently, the running costs of the building.

Acoustics

If you live in an urban area or near a busy roadway, you may wish to enhance your sound insulation. Our A-rated double and triple glazed windows provide excellent sound proofing but if you require extra, laminated glass has a special dampening Viscoplastic core helping to reduce the transmission of sound in noisy locations such as busy streets and airports. It can also be combined with solar neutral Low E, Fire Glass and many others to give a cost effective solution to your requirements.
